- Putting Together Your Website Business -
Before you attempt to put together your website, there are a few things you should have in order first.

In order to run a successful business, you must first think like an Entrepreneur.  Yes, you have a coach, but only for a limited period, it is up to you to take matters into your own hands and control your own business and use your coach as a consultant to your business, not as the person running your business.  Study the eProcess, Entreprenurial Tools and for a few AHA! moments check out the Smart Lessons in the Resource Center, look to the Navigation Menu on the left side. Under the heading of EDUCATION, look for the link called "eTraining". You will find the links to these in there.   Remember, if you can't control your time now when you are starting your business, you won't create the to time to run the business successfully when you will be busy with customers.  Do your Time Management and keep a steady Business Journal!!!

Decide your niche! Don't t-r-y to compete with Walmart, Target and the other big companies people recognize, we call this internet suicide.
The narrower the niche, usually the better. . . it helps in bringing in targeted visitors with specific keyword phrases (not single words).
If you are a Builder client work on Module 1 found in the eTraining section called eBusiness Modules, scroll down about third of the pages and look for the first link called: Basic Research Discovering and Defining Your Niche .  There is also and excellent Webinar called "Slaying the Dragon" that can help you decide the niche. This is found under the EDUCATION heading, but on down to the WORKSHOPS, then click on PLATINUM WEBINARS. You will find some excellent workshops on finding products there as well!

Now that your niche is decided, work on finding the best supplier for your products.  You may have to settled for a third tier dropshipper at first to get you started, but I would keep searching for better and better suppliers for your product line.
If you are a Builder client work on Module 1 the Second link: Finding Vendors and Dropshippers. Also look at the Product Sourcing section in the lower left corner of the Resource Center.
Some possible ways for finding a dropshipper are:
World Wide Brands
The Shipper
Maybe use Google's Product Search to find products as well

Once you have these things in order, it is time to work on your site, if you have a website builder through Bright Builders, work on the tutorial and get as familiar with your builder as you can.  Monkey around with it often so you will be ready to put your site together.

To get to your Builder, click here.

Now that you have your niche and before you create a logo, perhaps it is time to choose your domain name.  Sometimes your logo will reflect your domain, so these might go hand-in-hand.  If you have the Builder, be sure to register your domain name in the Builder.

When you are putting together your site, you may consider creating a free logo at I have created the link to the left to take you directly to the Headings area where you can start creating a logo.  There are five examples of text on this page, under the last sample, you see 'next' as a link, this will take you to a page with more samples.  There are about six sample pages.  Just click on the style you want, be sure to change the TEXT STRING to what you want your logo to say before clicking create logo.  You can also also change the font style and color and sometimes the background. Quite a handy free tool!

Now, map out or plan your website.  Follow Module 4 once again found in the eBusiness Modules of the Resource Center
I look at the builder as having two sides, the store manager where you you add your categories and products to the Store, this adds the shopping cart system to the products. The other side is where you add "Content Pages" or "Landing Pages" , I am a proponent of adding as many of these as you can possibly come up with Keywords to build the pages around.  Every new page is an opportunity for someone to find your site using a related keyword search, the more pages, the possibilities of more visitors to you site.

On the Keywords page, there is a formula as what constitutes a decent keyword phrase to build a page around. Keep in mind it is a phrase not a single word that will give you a better chance in getting found in the Search Engines.  A good tool that you can start with is the Yahoo Search found on Yahoo's (formerly Overture's) Tools page. Look in the gray square in the lower right corner to find the link.
Enter a single word if you like and see what phrases it gives you back, make a list of those that are relevant to your site.
Now. check if these words are good in Wordtracker, look for the KEI number and particularly a competition under 100,000, make sure you get all the way through Step 4 with this, you will receive an email with the results. Check the FAQs for a step by step on Wordtracker.

To incorporate your keywords into your content pages, you will need to study the writing process.
An excellent write up on how to brainstorm and write content for your website is in Module 5. Study this and start your writing for your pages, use this process for every page you add to your website.

Now that you have some keywords to build pages around, you need to build those pages so the Search Engines will recognize that the page is important for the phrase you are building the page around. This is called Search Engine Optimization.
To optimize, you must have an idea where the important areas to insert your phrase for the Search Engines to realize this page is important for your keyword phrase.  The Search Engines don't let this formula out, but there are some basic places most will look.

You may receive a phone call saying your Meta Tags aren't effective and for only just over $1,000.00 they will get you ranked in the search engines, be very careful!!!!! For one thing, the search engines don't pay much attention to these any more.  Please listen to the MythBusters Teleworkshop in your Builder's Resource Center.

There are other ways to generate a little income from your website in addition to the products you sell.  One can be Google's Adsense, another can be by adding Affiliate links to your site. I will go more into those soon.

In order for the Search Engines to pick up your site, the best way is for the Search Engine to pick up a link to your site from another website.
I offer my clients a free incoming link from to help get them started.

This page is for quick references to the various links discussed in our coaching sessions.
For instructions and more information on how to use these sites, please click from the navigation menu in the upper left.
